GreyRock’s Top Ten Content Analysis Techniques
How to Discern Lies, Gaslighting and Information Terrorism
The top ten techniques I use to quickly analyze any piece of content to determine its veracity are listed below. Here’s a quick modern history of the need for the framework:
The only institution with lower trust scores than the media is congress. But while the entire political class has worked to degrade rhetoric for decades, Bill Clinton is recognized as the nadir from which we never recovered. While the world waited for Slick Willy’s apology, with passion and fervor he instead uttered the most infamous parse of them all:
“I did not have sexual relations with that woman!”
It didn’t pass the red face test. Or the blue dress DNA test. Bill paid a political price through the impeachment, but in the end he got away with something no other executive leader could.
The truth was politically assassinated that day in Washington, D.C.
The parse covers the truth and the lie with a word or phrase that changes the definition of the subject matter. Parsing in the context of political rhetoric is systematically breaking down a politician’s speech, statement, or text into its core components to reveal meaning, intent, structure, bias, logical flaws, or persuasive techniques — much like a compiler parses code or a linguist parses a sentence.
It’s a key critical analysis tool used to decode what is really being said beneath the surface. Clinton denied “sexual relations” (the parse) implying intercourse and thus could pronounce a grand denial of a specific act that never happened anyway but also wasn’t the point. Of course he did not address the nature or details of the actual relationship with “that woman”.
He was never forced to account by the media or even the special counsel who charged him with perjury. On the last day of his presidency Clinton agreed to some restrictions on a law license he didn’t use, a fine and ultimately one or two more settlements.
Parsing Bill
This painting was done by an NYC grad student Petrina Ryan-Kleid titled “Parsing Bill” in 2012. She painted Clinton in Lewinsky’s famous stained, blue dress which Jeffrey Epstein later bought and hung in his NYC manse. You can check out the story behind the infamous painting here.
Over years of discerning bias and today’s outright gaslighting, I have compiled ten surefire techniques to deconstruct the lies and find a path to the truth.
Apposition Study
What descriptor comes after the comma?
Won: Donald Trump, 45th and 47th President of the United States
Defeated: Donald Trump, convicted felon
Note how the apposition is used as a branding tool.
The Parse
What key word changes the meaning of all the rest?
Bill really did have sexual relations with a female intern.
Evidence-Based
What measurable proof is offered? Citations?
Fact check orgs don’t count.
How Many?
What are the real numbers compared to, for context and proportion?
I use this one most often as it is so commonly used to confuse.
Origins
What is the original source and date published of the information or data?
This is the mistake I used to make on occasion: not checking the date while posting outrage for something that happened a year ago. Oops.
Engagement
What is unique about comments or other social clues?
Sometimes people will just say what is wrong and it will be liked 100 times.
Platform Type
The medium is the message. Where does the content appear?
Visual Representations
What is off about a photo, video, or map?
Op Category
Classify as: Propaganda, Misinformation, Disinformation, Malinformation?
AI Evil
The emerging threat amplifying all the above. See Weapons of Mass Deletion by Mike Benz. (Just follow him on X)
Applying any or all of these ten techniques will help you get to the truth faster. Approaching the 2026 midterms, the communications environment in the United States and globally has never been more volatile and dangerous to the average consumer of information or media. Let alone the above average ones like us.
Governments in conjunction with their cutout NGO’s led by a cadre of strategic advisors have weaponized digital communications giving new meaning to the title “information terrorist”.
More than ever we need to be implementing the techniques above and employing The GreyRock Strategy to protect ourselves and our speech online.
Keep engaging. Support your fav candidates and causes digitally. You do make a huge difference in the battle for truth.
